About the Organization
SAL Save A Life Organization was created by Madison Loppnow for her Girl Scout Gold Award. It was created with the idea of helping to save lives by raising awareness for suicide and other mental health issues that are not as widely talked about with the younger population.
Suicide is the 3rd leading causing of death among young teens; with the first two being accidents and homicide. We tell our kids to be careful when leaving the house and to make smart choices. We teach them to not get in the cars of strangers or walk alone in the dark. However we never tell our kids about depression, the way it makes you feel or that there is help out there.
With this being a topic not widely talked about and something Madison has struggled with for the past year it's important to her that the general public takes a stand and understands the significance of this topic and all the families affected by suicide not being widely talked about.
